Candidates for admission to Freshman year are required to take the TACHS Entrance Examination. Successful scoring on this exam will result in acceptance into Msgr. Farrell High School. It is the responsibility of the candidate and his family to obtain a copy of the TACHS application and post mark it prior to the application deadline in the Fall. Applications for public school students are available in the Main Office at Msgr. Farrell High School. Non-residents of Staten Island, as well as non-Catholics, are eligible to apply. The TACHS Examination is given in November and Farrell is one of the test centers.

REGISTRATION

Letters of acceptance are mailed out around mid-January. Incoming students would then be expected to officially register at the School on Registration Day in March . The family should be prepared to pay the first month's tuition as well as applicable fees.

HONORS COURSES AND PLACEMENT TESTING

One of the very important features which makes Farrell  unique is that all students at Msgr. Farrell are automatically enrolled in a college preparatory, New York State Regents level program of study. Special placement tests are administered in order to ascertain which students might also qualify for accelerated and honors programs in English, Math  and Foreign Language. In order to be invited to take honors placement exams, a student must have scored in the 80th and above percentile on the TACHS Exam and have a 90% average in 7th and 8th grades.

FEES AND INFORMATION

The tuition at Msgr. Farrell is currently $6300 a year (2008-9) plus a $42  enrolment fee for Tuition Management Systems. This totals $6300 or $630 a month from September to June. If tuition is received in full by August 10, 2008, then payment of $6200 only is needed and the enrolment fee is waived.
In addition to being chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York, Msgr. Farrell High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges.
