Guidance

PURPOSE OF GUIDANCE PROGRAM
The purpose of the Guidance Program is to assist the students in their personal, academic, social and vocational development. The guidance program provides systematic aid through the direction of the counselors by means of group classes, interviews, counseling sessions and testing tools. Counselors are assigned to a given year in order to enable all students to be interviewed during the year. Parental contact is encouraged at all times.

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP SESSIONS
Individual interviews enable students to discuss with the counselor whatever will promote attitudes and habits which will assist them in making choices and adjustments productive of personal satisfaction and effectiveness.
The weekly group guidance program attempts to help students to know themselves as individuals and as members of society: to aid students in methods of study: to assist them in their choice of college and course of study: to find the right career and obtain the proper training for it: and to learn to live and work effectively with others.

SPECIAL FEATURES
The guidance complex is extremely well equipped with the most current resources for the investigation of educational, financial, occupational and social aspects for the present and probable future of the students.

THE GUIDANCE COMPUTER LAB
The lab contains PC's programmed with detailed information on every college in the country. There is also a computerized occupational file with extensive data on over 1000 occupations. Other files contain financial aid information, etc. Students are able to utilize the lab every day before, during and after school hours.

THE COLLEGE AND CAREER VIDEO LIBRARY
This library allows our students and their families the opportunity to enjoy "walking tours" of hundreds of colleges right in their own home. A special laser disk video system allows students to view college presentations in the Guidance Lab itself.
Parents are always included in our guidance planning throughout the year  and are always invited to participate in our special group workshops given throughout the school year. These include College Nights, Financial Aid Workshops, College Admissions Workshops and special meetings with the counselor.
