GENERAL ACADEMIC POLICY
CURRICULUM AND STATISTICS

An entering ninth grader is placed into a college prep or honors curriculum by means of various placement exams and primary school recommendations as well as the sub-test results of the eighth grade Cooperative Examination.
A modern language is chosen by the entering freshman from three: French, Italian or Spanish.
The basic requirements for graduation (not including senior electives) are below. If a NYS Regents is offered, it must be taken since ALL students at Farrell are expected to graduate with a NYS Regents Diploma.
 4 years of Religious Education
 4 years of English
 4 years of Social Studies
 4 years of Mathematics
 4 years of Physical Education
 4 years of Group Guidance
 3 years of Science
 3 years of Modern Language
 3 years of Computer Science
 ½ year each of Art, Music and Health

THE ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM
Some upperclassmen may wish to take Advanced Placement courses offered at Farrell. A special AP test, given in May of senior year is required. Only students with outstanding qualifications are chosen by the various departments for admission into the program.
Advanced Placement/College Level Courses are offered in: American History, European History, Political Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Literature, English Language, Calculus AB, Calculus BC,  Computer (Java), World History

THE ST. JOHN'S & PACE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM
Some courses taught at Msgr. Farrell by qualified Farrell faculty will automatically be recognized as college courses by St. John's University or Pace University and college credits will be recorded on the college transcript if a grade of 80 is attained. This college course credit is transferable to a large number of other colleges around the country. Farrell credits these courses as senior elective courses at the same time (i.e. Accounting,  AP Math AB, AP Math BC, Calculus R, Advanced Algebra-Calculus, AP Computer (Java), AP Chemistry, AP English, English IV Honors, Criminology).
