Dear Jack: Do you have any tips for studying faster? I have the time to work hard enough to do well in my classes, but I just don't feel like it. --Lazy in 310 Dear Lazy: Well I saw this on TV once and it worked, so I don't see why it won't work here. Tear the pages out of your notebooks, fold them twice, and then eat them. The knowledge will find its way from your stomach to your brain. It's knowledge, it can handle it. Oh, but make sure you take notes off the paper first. We don't want you looking silly.
Dear Jack: My homeroom teacher is threatening that if we don't give money to the missions, he'll make us talk only in Latin, and has even mentioned some Ancient Chinese torture tricks. I give money to the missions everyday because it's a noble cause, but frankly I'm terrified of my homeroom teacher. What do I do? --Terrified in 212
Dear Terrified: As long as you give money to the missions you're safe. It also should make you feel better about yourself. And don't worry, the Chinese torture isn't that bad if Brother W... I mean your homeroom teacher-likes you well enough.
Dear Jack: My girlfriend keeps making me watch sappy romantic movies like "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "I'll Do Anything." I swear if I meet Richard Gere in person I'm going break his knees. How can I convince

Politics From page 4
seeing my competition I knew this would be no easy task. I spent that week getting to know a variety of different people from all different backgrounds. I made friends both young and old that I will always be able to associate with one of the best experiences of my life. As the week progressed I became a senator, but my ambition had not been filled. I ran for a position on the Rules Committee of the Senate. I earned the job as Secretary of the Senate, which meant I was responsible for keeping track of all legislation that came up for debate. I even sponsored my own bill, defended it against opposition, helped to get it through both houses, and got it signed by the governor. I learned a lot about the political arena and learned that politics is not just about boring debates on television. Maybe a political career is in my future. I attribute the opportunity for this enriching experience to my parents and to Monsignor Farrell High School. My mother and father have always tried to guide me in the right direction and have been supportive of all my goals. Farrell has taught me to strive for excellence in all that I do. It has prepared me, as it does all its students, for successful college experiences, and the promise of a boundless future.
