Mrs. Sheila McCarthy R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mrs. Sheila McCarthy after an illness which had kept her out of the school throughout 2005.

This was her 20th year at Monsignor Farrell. Although her speciality was English in which she held both Undergraduate and Graduate degrees, it was in the Computer Science Department where she applied herself. In 2004-2005 she was teaching a Junior Computer Applications course in addition to the Senior CAD Design course which had become her signature class!

A long time Faculty Advisor for different student activities, Mrs. McCarthy became particularly associated with the Student Council in recent years and its fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association - otherwise known as SuperDance - in addition to the Good Samaritan Drive which distributed food baskets and toys at Christmas to those who may have needed them. Although she could not attend this
year's SuperDance, the amount raised was a new record - over $166,000 which is a fitting tribute to her hard work. The total raised by Farrell students during the years that SuperDance has been held is now in excess of $1,000,000.

The Funeral Mass for Mrs. McCarthy is to be held at St. Teresa's Church on Victory Boulevard at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, 21 July 2005 following a two day wake at Harmon Funeral Home on Forest Avenue.

Eternal Rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Those who have given of themselves to others will live in every single heart they have touched.
