The Present

In 1999, Monsignor Farrell High School was recognized, in the U.S. News and World Report, as an example of an outstanding American secondary school. The school is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools. The school provides excellence in education on three levels: Regents, Honors and Scholars. Traditionally, 99% of the school's graduates attend college with some 95% graduating with a college degree.

Farrell men have found success in almost every profession or career known to man. At present the school's alumni include: a United States Congressman, a New York City Councilman, corporation presidents and CEO's, legions of physicians, dentists, attorneys, educators, engineers, firemen, law enforcement officials, priests and businessmen.

The school is proud of its present day faculty with approximately 70 dedicated lay men and women joining the 6 priests, 2 Christian Brothers and 3 religious sisters in educational assignments. The school's student population numbers almost 1300 boys from all parts of Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn.

In addition to its well known academic excellence, Farrell is widely recognized as a sports powerhouse boasting multiple championships in such activities as football, soccer, ice hockey, baseball, track and field, golf, etc. The performing arts program consistently produces outstanding results with its drama program and its nationally recognized Forensics and Competition Marching Band programs.

The school has concluded an impressive three-year capital development program. New facilities include two state of the art computer laboratories, a refurbished library-resource center, and a new, air-conditioned athletic annex featuring a spacious weight conditioning facility and the largest high school wrestling and karate complex in the city. The school also has a new outdoor lighting system providing the perfect setting for outdoor evening events in its stadium. The establishment of the WFBN-TV network allows for daily television broadcasts and pre-recorded specials, including interviews with VIP personalities. The entire school computer network is Internet accessible.
