2025 Season Recap
The Lions finished the 2025 campaign 9-2 overall, going undefeated (6-0) in the CHSFL's elite "AAA" Division, earned the #1 seed in the "AAA" playoffs, and reached the CHSFL "AAA" Championship Game for the first time since 2021.
They opened the season with convincing victories over South Shore High School and Christian Brothers Academy (Albany) before suffering their only regular-season loss, a non-league road game against New Jersey power Delbarton.
Victories over powerhouse CHSFL "AAA" opponents included road wins at St. Anthony’s and Iona Prep, the #1-ranked team in New York State.
Capturing the "AAA" Division Championship, the first since the 1993 season, the team earned the top seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs. After defeating Chaminade 34-3 in the semifinals, the Lions lost to Iona Prep 42-20 in the CHSFL "AAA" championship game. Iona finished the season ranked #1 in NY State.
Rocco Del Priore '05 begins his 5th season as head coach.
2026 Season Outlook
The Lions remain the only Staten Island high school that competes in the top "AAA" Division of the Catholic High School Football League (Farrell, Cardinal Hayes, Chaminade, Iona Prep, St. Anthony's, Stepinac).
"There is a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding our program," said head coach Rocco Del Priore '05. Entering his fifth season as head coach and his 21st at Farrell, the former Lion's defensive lineman is not only focused on the upcoming season but on continuing to build and strengthen the culture of Farrell Football.
"We are looking forward to an exciting 2026 season, but more importantly, we are excited to continue strengthening the culture of Farrell Football." - Coach Rocco Del Priore '05
"Our alumni are a huge part of everything we do here - the tradition, toughness, and pride were built by the men who came before us, and it is our responsibility to make sure the next generation understands FARRELL and what those seven letters represent," said Del Priore, who was named both the CHSFL and National Football Foundation 2025 Coach of the Year.
Season Opener
Saturday, August 29th
Del Priore and the Lions will be tested immediately when they open the season with a non-league game against South Jersey Catholic power Holy Spirit at the Battle at the Beach on Saturday, August 29th.
Another non-league game on the schedule is the Week 3 matchup against the defending NJ State Champion DePaul Catholic in the Battle for the Bridge game at Farrell on Saturday, September 12th.
As always, the CHSFL's premier "AAA" Division is as difficult as it gets. "There are no easy weeks and no shortcuts," Del Priore noted. "Every game requires preparation, toughness, and discipline, and our Faithful Men understand the standard that comes with wearing LIONS across their chest."

Key Returning Players
The Lions return several key players from last year's team:
-
Bryce Moye, QB
Most notably, junior quarterback Bryce Moye returns for his second season as the Lions' starter. Bryce, who played on the varsity as a freshman, was elected one of the team captains during his sophomore season - the first in Farrell football history.
In 2025, he set a new school single-season completion percentage record (71%), breaking Anthony Abruzese's mark, which stood since 1991.
In 11 games, Bryce threw for 1,784 yards and 21 touchdowns, second most in both categories since the 1993 season (Greg Guastavino), with only 3 interceptions in 176 attempts, resulting in an incredible 142 passer rating. The athletic 6'2" signal-caller added another 7 rushing touchdowns.
Junior QB Bryce Moye returns for his third varsity season, with All-State offensive tackle senior Carlo Della Ragione (#79) protecting his blindside.
He was named the 2026 Fugazzi Memorial Award winner, given annually to the Island’s top football player, becoming the first Lion to win the award since Steve Viegas in 2015. Bryce was also a CHSFL Player of the Year finalist and the first player in school history to be named the NY State Gatorade Player of the Year Runner-Up. “Bryce is the kind of player every head coach dreams of coaching," said Coach Del Priore. "He is a tremendous leader and relentless competitor who represents Farrell football with pride, toughness, and class."
To date, Bryce has received offers from several Division I programs, including Duke, Buffalo, UConn, Temple, Florida Atlantic, East Carolina, and Rhode Island.
- Braxton Moye, WR/Edge
Entering his third season on the varsity, junior wide receiver Braxton Moye (Bryce's twin brother) is one of the top returning wide receivers in the league.
An excellent route runner with great size (6'2", 220 lbs) and playmaking ability, Brax is also a tough, physical blocker who impacts the game without the ball. With 15 total touchdowns already in his career, he’s proven to be a difference-maker every time he steps on the field.
In addition to his role on offense, Coach Del Priore plans on using him on the defensive side of the ball as an edge defender.
Brax has offers from Boston College, Buffalo, Temple, Florida Atlantic, East Carolina, and Rhode Island.
- Carlo Della Ragione, OT
The anchor of the offensive line, Carlo is a three-year starter on the varsity and First Team All-State left tackle who brings toughness and physicality every snap.
Described as "a moose in the weight room," the 6'1", 325 lb senior also possesses excellent footwork. "Carlo is a true road mauler in the run game who sets the tone up front," noted Del Priore.
- Charlie Costanzo, LB
A physically imposing, instinctive defender who can impact the game all over the field, Charlie makes the move from safety to linebacker this season.
The 6' 2", 220 lb junior has a combination of size, athleticism, and natural football instincts.
He has offers from Boston College, East Carolina, and Rhode Island.
Junior Charlie Costanzo (#16) will move from safety to linebacker this season.
- Dave Leverock, DB
The field general of the defensive secondary, Dave is a smart, heady player with outstanding instincts. A sure tackler and natural leader who keeps everyone aligned and brings consistency and toughness to the Farrell D.
