All Students
Questions regarding summer school and/or Regents review were addressed directly with students during school on Friday, June 29th.
Q: If a student was absent on the last day of school, how can he pick up his report card?
A: The Main Office will be open for report card pickup during the summer on Wednesdays only from 8:00 am to noon. Only the student or his parent(s) can pick up his report card. Report cards will not be given to anyone else and will not be emailed or mailed.
Q: If a student was absent on the last day of school, will he be notified if he failed a Regents exam or a course?
A: Yes. Mr. Fisher emailed all students who were absent on the last day of school and did not pass a Regents exam or course. The email included specific instructions for credit recovery or Regents review. This email was sent between Tuesday, June 30th and Friday, July 3rd.
Q: If a student failed a course, how will he make it up over the summer?
A: Any student who failed a course received a cream-colored notification on Friday, June 29th, outlining their credit recovery plan.
- Some courses will be asynchronous, beginning Monday, July 6th, with daily assignments that must be completed and submitted online.
- Other courses will be in-person, beginning Monday, July 20th
Q: Is Regents Review mandatory? Can students work with a private tutor instead?
A: Yes, Regents Review is mandatory at Monsignor Farrell. Students who are required to attend will receive a green colored notification on Monday, June 29th.
- Review classes will run daily from Monday, August 3rd through Monday, August 17th, excluding Fridays, August 7th and 14th.
- Regents exams will be administered on Tuesday, August 18th and Wednesday, August 19th based on the state schedule.
Q: If students already meet the state minimum for graduation, why do they need to retake a Regents exam?
A: While a student may meet the minimum graduation requirements, Monsignor Farrell's policy requires all students to retake any Regents exam they did not pass. Our goal is for each student’s transcript to reflect a passing grade in every Regents subject, demonstrating academic success and readiness for the next step.
Q: If a student just missed a passing score on the Regents exam, can his exam be reviewed for a few extra points?
A: All Regents exams with scores between 60 and 64 are automatically re-evaluated during the grading process to ensure that every possible point is awarded. Please note that due to the Regents conversion chart, even a one-point increase on the final score may require gaining multiple raw points on the exam itself. While every effort is made to support students, final scores reflect the official scoring and state guidelines.
Q: My daughter is interested in attending the Monsignor Farrell Regents Review. When is registration?
A: Registration for the Monsignor Farrell Regents Review took place on Monday, June 29th, and Wednesday, July 1st.
