In collaboration with the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at SIUH, Northwell Health, and in memory of Michael Bielawski '25, any Monsignor Farrell High School student who is interested can receive free cardiac screening at Monsignor Farrell during school on Monday, April 27th. This targeted screening will involve performing an electrocardiogram (EKG) and a limited echocardiogram (heart ultrasound).
The deadline to complete the registration process is Friday, April 24th. However, only 100 appointments are available and will be scheduled in the order we receive the completed registrations.

Screening Details
Dear Parent,
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Staten Island University Hospital, in collaboration with Monsignor Farrell High School, has initiated a program to offer complimentary screening for current Farrell students. This targeted screening will involve performing an electrocardiogram (EKG) and a limited echocardiogram (heart ultrasound). These studies are helpful to detect rhythm disturbances of the heart and to evaluate for specific heart problems that are associated with sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes. These tests are safe and do not involve the use of ionizing radiation. While they are effective in identifying the most dangerous heart problems, it is important to understand some of their limitations, including the possibility of not detecting a cardiac abnormality. There is also a chance that this screening will detect a minor abnormality that warrants further testing.
Screening will take place at Monsignor Farrell during the school day. All studies will be reviewed by a pediatric cardiologist (Dr. Shahed Quraishi or Dr. Robert Spencer). If an abnormality is detected, you will be notified as soon as possible with findings and recommendations.
Participation in this program is optional and free of charge.

Registration Steps
Both steps must be completed to register.
1. Complete the online Monsignor Farrell Cardiac Screening Form
2. Download, print, and complete both the SIUH AV Authorization Form and the SIUH Cardiac Screening Form and submit them to the Main Office.
