Hockey Student-Athletes Give Support For Cancer-Stricken Youth, Raise Money for Rally 4 Reed
The Mosignor Farrell hockey season proved to be a memorable one, especially with the Junior Varsity team making it to the CHSHL semi-finals. But after the end of the season, the teams took a different approach: How to help others?
And that is what they did.
At home ice, members of the Monsignor Farrell hockey program volunteered at the Skate for Sunrise event, enjoying time on the ice with kids suffering from cancer and their siblings. The event was held in support of the Lucine and Jay Chazanoff Day Camp.

This will be a time they will never forget, and so won't the student-athletes. Giving back and helping others is what creates Vir Fidelis and builds the community and us, bringing people together.
Additionally, the teams gave back through their support for Rally 4 Reed, which is an annual community fundraiser supporting Reed Rinon. Reed is a child living with Morquio A syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. Through this event, money is raised for his medical care and research to find a cure.
On March 15 at the Staten Island Pavilion, Rally 4 Reed raised a tremendous amount with the help of the organizers, as well as the many volunteers from Farrell helping to raise money for a great foundation. From selling t-shirts to donations and various games, Monsignor Farrell was able to help Rally 4 Reed raise a lot of money for Reed.
In addition to the Skate for Sunrise event, hockey team members volunteered for the Rally 4 Reed event this past March.
Along with a great game, it was a great experience and reminds us of the importance of giving back to others.
