The Monsignor Farrell Marine Biology Society will join NYC H2O on a shore walk and discussion led by SCAPE about Staten Island's Living Breakwaters and its construction process!
Living Breakwaters is a state-of-the-art blue-green infrastructure designed to reduce risk to Tottenville's shoreline, enhance harbor ecosystems, and support education and stewardship across Staten Island's Raritan Bay.
The park is located along the Arthur Kill coast where the kill opens into Raritan Bay. It contains clay bluffs, part of the terminal moraine, formed when the Wisconsin Glacier receded 10,000 years ago.
The walk will run after NYC H2O's Conference House Park Beach Cleanup on Page Ave. The shorewalk will be from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
