Senior gains following for Mets content

Nicholas Foster, '25, creates Mets-based social media platform, gains significant following in one year

Sports and social media go hand in hand. Various accounts report the latest sports news about your favorite teams and sports. And one Farrell student, who eyes a future career in the sports media business, has already gotten a start in that art.

Nicholas Foster, '25, has created his own sports social media account titled MetsMuse.  MetsMuse is a social media account on both X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, where Foster updates New York Mets fans about stats and the last news surrounding the team.

Foster refers to Metsmuse as a  "one-stop shop" where Mets fans can get the latest updates about their team and interact with the Mets and baseball community. 

Foster started MetsMuse for his aspirations of becoming a sports broadcaster.

"[It was created out of] my love for content and creation, and my passion for the Mets, and a want to really build a community and create content," Foster said.

Foster is heavily involved in the Farrell Media Network, where he calls games across various sports while also being one of the lead anchors on WFBN.

"Really, what MetsMuse has taught me are the core values of consistency," he stated.  

The social media accounts have grown a following as it has over 6,000 followers on X. MetsMuse has even received attention from various celebrities. NBA superstar and lifelong Mets fan Donvan Mitchell quoted a post Foster had made about the 2021 Subway Series. Michael Kay also reacted to the MetsMuse account during an episode of The Michael Kay Show on the YES Network and ESPN Radio.

During the Grimace Mets run during this season, the official social media account of McDonalds even replied to posts on the page.




The MetsMuse account has had interactions with NBA star Donovan Mitchell (above) and McDonald's (below).

 


Foster also became an ambassador for SeatGeek, where he has his own code to give fans 20 percent off on their tickets.  

As someone who covers the Mets so closely all year round, Foster provided his feelings on what the Mets need to do to get better during the MLB offseason. 

"Juan Soto is sitting right there, one of the best young stars in baseball, out in the market for them," Foster said. "And I think it's key that they land him and [they] get the pitching help that they need."

When asked about his experience with MetsMuse, Foster stated "it's definitely really cool to have this page, it’s definitely been a dream come true for me, coming from someone who wanted to have something like this for a long time, and it’s, it’s been really awesome to build the community that I have."
