Seniors parade around their costumes in the annual Farrell Halloween celebration
Several things are guaranteed every Halloween: candy, scary movies, and plenty of different kinds of costumes parading around the halls of Monsignor Farrell High School.
Every Halloween, seniors at Monsignor Farrell have the opportunity to participate in a costume competition. You get to see many different characters, such as the Power Rangers, Sonic the Hedgehog, the cast of Scooby-Doo, and many more just on this year's entries alone.
Faculty get the chance to vote on which costume they think deserves first prize. The top three costumes each earn cash prizes.
Senior Vincenzo Rapacciuolo took home first place in this year's costume contest for his portrayal of Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man.
Watch out Spiderman! In first place, Vincenzo Rapacciuolo recreated the famous Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus, using a jacket with built-in, custom made robotic arms that can be articulated.
Rapacciuolo said he spent a significant time crafting the costume himself.
Eric Rodriguez, dressed as a Teletubby, interviews Michael Marino, dressed as Beetlejuice, for WFBN-TV. Marino won second prize for his costume.
The juice is loose! Coming in second place, Michael Marino created a Beetlejuice costume with the iconic carousel on his head. In addition, there was a little piece of string that you can pull, and it can spin the carousel.
Like Rapacciuolo, Marino dedicated his free time to building the costume from head to toe, including the headgear.
A group of seniors dressed as the gang from Scooby-Doo won third prize in this year's costume contest.
The cast of Scooby-Doo, featuring all members of the Scooby gang -- and even the Mystery Machine -- ended up taking home third place.
This once-a-year experience is not only fun for the seniors, but also for the other students to see the costumes -- and for the teachers -- as they dress up.
