Monsignor Farrell Band's Christmas Spectacular

Christmas is in the air, and it's a very busy time at Monsignor Farrell High School. The annual Christmas Tree Lightining and Nativity blessing nears, the Toy and Clothing Drive is wrapping up, and everyone is rapidly trying to finish their Christmas shopping.

But there's one other tradition that Farrell has during this time of year -- a performance by the Monsignor Farrell Band in front of the entire Farrell family.

This year's concert will take place in the Farrell Gymnasium on Dec. 16 at 6:30pm.

"This is the band's most anticipated performance with an existing crowd that they will face," freshman electric bass player Giuseppe Balzano said.

The Monsignor Farrell band will put their musical talents on full display. They will perform several classic Christmas tunes, perfect for bringing in the holiday spirit with Christmas just over a week away -- and one day before the Christmas Tree Lighting & Nativity Blessing.

That's not all the band will be doing during the school's final week before Christmas break, however. The Farrell band will be performing songs during the Christmas Tree Lighting event, including "Feliz Navidad" and "A Very Merry March" -- as well as preforming songs that were apart of their marching band show last month.

Even if band members are nervous to be playing their respective pieces before this large crowd, they are very excited.  Guiseppe plays the electric bass, and he personally cannot wait to show off his musical talent before the Farrell family.

And that mix of nerves and excitement can be seen from freshmen like Balzano, to even seniors like trumpeter Matthew Siracusa, who is preparing for his final Christmas Concert performance.

"Everyone is really excited to preform and it’s a great night for everyone,"  Siracusa said.

The band's performances at the Christmas Concert and the Christmas Tree Lighting will be some of the best performances going into the new year, with many more to come!
