At Monsignor Farrell, there is no such thing as going home at 2:30!
Monsignor Farrell men look forward to staying after school. Whether you want to help our football team on the gridiron, participate in the school play, or show off your artistic talent in our art club, there is really something for every man at Monsignor Farrell. Not only is there something for every man, but there are also multiple choices! Many of our students participate in more than one sport and club, which is encouraged by our coaches and club moderators. Our athletics and activities at Monsignor Farrell speak to our mission of “educating the whole man” by transferring the skills and talents taught in the classroom to extracurricular activities.
Something for Everyone
If you are interested in the arts, take a look at our Farrell Players and participate in our spring musical and our Improv show. Travel to Harvard, Princeton, and Yale as you compete with our Speech & Debate Team, or join our nationally ranked Marching Band and perform in the national championship in Walt Disney World.
Monsignor Farrell men also take a sense of pride in being involved in community outreach and appreciate the feeling of service above self. Our Special Olympics Club, Hearing our Heroes, Friends of Staten Island (FOSI), and our Visiting Brothers Society are but a few examples of how you will be able to get involved in giving back to the community.
Broaden your horizons by taking part in our Easter break trip to Europe. Explore Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and England. You will visit some of the most historic sites on earth.
At Monsignor Farrell, you will have the opportunity to participate in the school’s on-campus television studio, WFBN-TV. Members of the Farrell Broadcasting Network are involved in all aspects of television production, including scriptwriting, camera operations, sound and lighting, on-air work including news and sports anchors, as well as on and off-campus interviews. The studio also features green-screen technology and multiple edit suites where students learn to use the latest computers with editing and special effects software. Members of WFBN-TV regularly travel to off-campus broadcast locations where they receive hands-on experience of behind-the-scenes operations, not normally seen by the viewing public.
Student-Run Organizations
We pride ourselves on allowing our students to take ownership of activities. Each extracurricular activity has a faculty moderator; however, our students are the ones running the meetings, planning and scheduling events, and providing updates to school administration about the organization. Likewise, our students can form a new organization suited to their interests by submitting a written proposal to the school administration. Last year, students initiated a ping-pong club, as well as a Visiting Brother’s Society, a group that visited nursing homes remotely to spend time with the elderly throughout the pandemic.
