Farrell Wrestling Coach
It is with very heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wrestling coach, David G. Ironman.
For more than three decades, Coach Ironman was so much more than a wrestling coach at Monsignor Farrell High School. He was a mentor, a role model, a dear friend, and above all, a Faithful Man who dedicated much of his life to the young men of Monsignor Farrell.
Generations of Farrell wrestlers had the privilege of learning from Coach Ironman. His lessons went well beyond wrestling. He taught his young men the importance of hard work, discipline, perseverance, and never giving up, lessons they would carry with them for the rest of their lives.
His contributions to wrestling extended well beyond Monsignor Farrell. Coach Ironman was instrumental in growing the sport throughout New York City, earning him a place in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a 2015 recipient of its Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award.
An accomplished attorney, Coach Ironman was equally passionate about his profession and his commitment to the sport and the young men he coached.
His legacy will live on through the Dave Ironman Invitational and the Dave Ironman Scholarship Fund, but perhaps his greatest legacy is found in the countless lives he touched and the generations of Faithful Men who were fortunate enough to call him Coach.
Our hearts are broken, and our entire Farrell family mourns the loss of a wonderful man who gave so much of himself to our school and community.
