The Medical Education Development Institute (MEDI) welcomes Dr. Elaine Rodrigues, Dr. Anna Van Tuyl, and Dr. Candice Cruz from the emergency department at Staten Island University Hospital - Northwell Health.
The doctors will describe the unique roles of those working in the emergency department and the various assessment techniques used to quickly evaluate and/or treat patients presenting. They will discuss and demonstrate some of the life-saving measures performed by ER physicians.
Students will then have the opportunity to "perform" some of these assessments and life-saving measures (CPR, ultrasound, intubation) using hospital-provided equipment and SIM manikins.
