Class of 2026 Parents Meeting - Admissions Decisions: Scholarship Appeals & Letters of Continued Interest

Monsignor Farrell High School

Thursday, January 29 2026 from 12:30 AM to 02:30 AM

Throughout the month of January, the Class of 2026 has been actively working in guidance class on two important pieces of the college admissions process: scholarship appeal letters and letters of continued interest (LOCIs). These letters are used to respectfully request a scholarship re-evaluation or to communicate continued interest and updated achievements to colleges following a deferral or waitlist decision.

We invite parents of the Class of 2026 to join Mrs. Mary Raftery and Mrs. Kristen Kiernan on Wednesday, January 28th, for an informational session designed to help families better understand:

  • When and why scholarship appeals are appropriate
  • The purpose and timing of a letter of continued interest
  • What admissions offices are looking for in these communications
  • How parents can provide thoughtful input while allowing students to maintain ownership of the process

During the meeting, parents will have the opportunity to review their son’s drafted letter, ask questions, and add parental insight before the letter is submitted to colleges.

Please note: Laptops are strongly encouraged to allow for live review and editing.

We look forward to partnering with you as your son navigates this important stage of the college admissions journey.
