Archaeology Society Meeting - The Vasa

Room 112

Thursday, October 15 2026 from 08:30 PM to 09:30 PM

The Vasa, a 17th-century Swedish warship, sank in Stockholm Harbor on its maiden voyage in 1628.

It was raised, largely intact, 333 years later in 1961 from the cold, dark seabed.  It is the world's best-preserved 17th-century ship.  Over 98% of the ship's original structure survives, decorated with hundreds of carved wooden sculptures.  Some human remains were also discovered.

The Vasa Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, houses the Vasa.

All students are welcome to attend.

See Mr. Williams during school, or email him if you have any questions about the Archaeology Society.
