Mike brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of safety and emergency management. A member of the New York City Fire Department since 1992, Mike is currently a Battalion Chief assigned to Battalion 40 in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of six FDNY companies within the battalion, along with directing emergency operations.
Part of Mike’s responsibilities as Director of Campus Safety and Emergency Management will include enhancing and implementing our emergency action plan and procedures and safety standards.
“Mike’s expertise in the field of emergency management will have an immediate impact on the safety, security, and well-being of the entire Monsignor Farrell High School Community,” said Lou Tobacco '90, President of Monsignor Farrell High School.
A 1984 graduate of St. Peter’s High School, Mike won the Jaques Award, presented to the top basketball player on Staten Island in his senior year. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and computer information systems from Manhattan College in 1989.
In addition to his role as Director of Campus Safety and Emergency Management, Mike will continue to serve as Monsignor Farrell’s head varsity basketball coach, a position he has held since 2010. Prior to being named the head varsity coach, Mike was the head coach of the freshman basketball team from 2007 - 2010.
Mike and his wife Anna Maria Dunn, M.D. have three children: Devin, Monsignor Farrell High School Class of 2012, Alessandra, and Jake, Monsignor Farrell High School Class of 2018.
