Third annual Faculty vs. Students Softball Game on June 4
Mr. Kennedy, '12, has consistently been one of the heavy hitters for the faculty team in the annual Faculty vs. Students softball game. The third edition takes place on Wednesday, June 4.
Faculty-student showdown on the ball diamond to take place on June 4
After dropping a closely-encountered battle to the seniors, 62-60, in the faculty vs. seniors basketball game last month, the faculty want to take revenge.
They'll hope to find it in the third annual faculty vs. students softball game, to be held at Dennis Barrett Stadium on June 4 (rain date June 5).
The student vs. faculty softball game is an annual event that pits the students against the faculty in an epic end-of-the-year war on the field.
Both sides have come out on top previously, with the faculty winning the first-ever game in 2023 by an epic 24-1 margain. The students got revenge last year, narrowly beating the faculty 10-9.

The game can clearly go either way, however, based purely on the quantity of points, the faculty seem to have the edge.
After losing the basketball game against the seniors, the faculty will want to get back at them by winning this softball game.
This is the third annual softball game after it was proposed by Mr. Thomas Albano, '12, three years ago.
"The idea for the game came into my head after seeing the basketball game be such a success in 2023," Mr. Albano said. "With the help of Mr. Nabavi and Mr. Kennedy, not to mention plenty of my faculty colleagues, we brought the softball game into existence. It's now one of my favorite days of the year. It's a way for us to celebrate the nearing of the school year's end and bring out some competitive spirit in the faculty and students."
Mr. Hynes, '82, greets Andrew Cavagnaro, '25, at first base during the inaugural faculty vs. students softball game in 2023.
The softball game acts as a cap-off to the school year for students and faculty alike. It is a good way to spend time with the faculty in a playful and competitive environment before finals start and, of course, everyone leaves for summer. The game allows students to work together to best their teachers and win the game.
There's no way to know what the results of the game will be, and we will have to wait to see the outcome and know whether the students or the faculty will come out victorious.
But one thing is for certain -- both sides are very confident they will come out on top. And, according to Mr. Albano, the faculty will be playing for keeps.
"We lost in a back-and-forth nail-bitter last year," he said. "We lost both the basketball and softball games last year, and we're coming off another close loss in the basketball game last month. Of course we're going to have fun, but my fellow teachers and I are going to want to snap this skid."
