Varsity Lacrosse Takes Home Another CHSAA Title, NYC Mayor's Cup

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a dynasty as "a powerful group or family that maintains its position for a considerable time." Across history, there have been dynasties that have defined eras. Jeter’s New York Yankees, Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, Brady’s New England Patriots. We can add the Monsignor Farrell Varsity Lacrosse team to that list.

During the 2025-26 season, the Varsity Lions posted an impressive 13-3 overall record. Regular-season excellence was contributed by leadership from the team's 22 seniors, including team captains Justin Rodriguez, James Chiafullo, and Connor Finn.

Rodriguez led the team by scoring 39 goals, with an average of 2.3 goals per game. Ryan Dugan, '26, led the team with 59 total points, including 30 assists, averaging 1.7 assists per game. AJ Guadagno, '26, had an impressive save percentage of .680 to go along with 134 saves.

Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach Steve Lyman, '00, holds the NYC Mayor's Cup trophy following the team's victory.

After disposing of Bishop Molloy and Xavier, the Lions faced Kennedy Catholic for the CHSAA "A" Division City Championship on May 19.

Rodriguez and Dugan scored four goals each, with Jack Ercalano, '26, joining them with a hat-trick. Farrell's dominance resulted in a 12-5 victory, making the varsity lacrosse team the first lacrosse team in Farrell history to three-peat the CHSAA "A" Division City Championship.

While the team fell short of the Intersectional Championship, their season was not done. The Lions faced off against South Bronx Prep for the New York City Mayor's Cup. In a close and competitive matchup, the Lions found themselves on top with a final score of 9-8 to claim the Cup.

The 2025-26 varsity lacrosse season was an incredible display of hard work, leadership, and success. We congratulate Coach Steve Lyman, '00, and the Varsity squad on an incredible season and wish them luck for the seasons to follow.
