Monsignor Farrell High School’s Mission and Commitment to Our Athletes and Families

The mission of Monsignor Farrell High School is to develop the Vir Fidelis (the Faithful Man) in an atmosphere of Catholic faith and values—an individual aware of his God-given talents, confident in his abilities, and oriented to the service of God, his family, and community.

Our athletic program aligns with this mission by fostering a supportive and enriching environment that encourages each student-athlete to grow in character, teamwork, and faith.

We are committed to:

  • Providing high-quality coaching, guidance, and mentorship to help each athlete realize their God-given potential.

  • Upholding Catholic values of respect, humility, and service, fostering sportsmanship and teamwork in every aspect of athletic participation.

  • Ensuring open, respectful communication between athletes, families, and coaches to build a community rooted in trust and shared goals.

  • Maintaining a safe and supportive environment that prioritizes the health and well-being of every athlete.

  • Encouraging academic success and life skills alongside athletic excellence, preparing students for lives of service to God, family, and community.

  • In partnership with our athletes and their families, we strive to uphold these values in all we do, creating a positive and faith-centered experience for every participant.

Code of Conduct for Student Athletes and Parents

1. Respect, Faith, and Sportsmanship

  • Athletes and parents shall demonstrate respect toward coaches, teammates, referees, opponents, and spectators at all times, upholding Catholic values and the mission of Vir Fidelis.

  • Athletes are expected to embody the virtues of humility, dedication, and teamwork, recognizing their athletic abilities as gifts to be used in the service of others and the glory of God.

2. Playing Time

  • Acknowledgment: Participation in a Monsignor Farrell High School team does not guarantee playing time in games or competitions. Playing time is determined solely at the discretion of the coaching staff, based on the best interests of the team.
  • Communication: Parents understand they are not to contact or question the coaching staff regarding decisions related to playing time at any time. Constructive feedback or other concerns may be directed to the Athletic Director if necessary.

3. Financial Commitment

  • All fees associated with the athletic program, including but not limited to uniform costs, tournament fees, and transportation, must be paid in full by the specified due date provided by the school. This financial commitment is non-negotiable. Team fees will not be refunded for leaving or quitting the team.

  • Consequences: Failure to pay these fees in a timely manner may result in restricted participation in team activities, dismissal from the team, and may also affect eligibility to participate in other sports, extracurricular activities, and/or school trips. This commitment reflects the responsibility and dedication expected of a Vir Fidelis.

4. Behavior and Sportsmanship

  • Both athletes and parents are expected to demonstrate positive behavior and sportsmanship at all times, in keeping with Catholic values and the mission of service and respect.

  • Parent Conduct: To maintain a respectful environment aligned with the school’s mission, no alcoholic beverages are permitted at athletic events, and the use of air horns or other disruptive noise-makers in the stands is strictly prohibited. Parents are encouraged to model dignity and respect for the community.

  • Monsignor Farrell High School, the CHSAA, and the CHSFL have a no tailgating policy for all games and events. All families must adhere to this policy on or around school grounds.

5. Attendance and Commitment

  • Athletes are expected to attend all practices, games, and team events. Commitment to the team schedule is essential, and failure to honor this commitment may impact participation and team standing, as reliability and dedication are key virtues of the Vir Fidelis.

  • Illness Policy: If a student is absent from school due to a documented illness, he is not permitted to participate in practices or games on the same day as the absence.

6. Health and Safety Requirements

Athletes and parents agree to adhere to all Monsignor Farrell High School health and safety protocols, including promptly reporting any injuries, illness, or other health-related issues that may affect participation. This commitment to well-being reflects the school’s care for the whole person.

7. Physical and Health Forms

  • All required physical and health forms must be completed in full and submitted by the specified due date prior to participation in any team activities. This requirement is non-negotiable.

  • Consequences: Failure to submit these forms on time may result in delayed or restricted participation in practices, games, or other team activities until all documentation is complete and approved.

8. Social Media Conduct

  • Athletes and parents are expected to use social media responsibly. Any posts regarding the team, coaches, or school should reflect positively and uphold the values of Monsignor Farrell High School, promoting respect, faith, and the mission of Vir Fidelis.

9. Accountability

  • Athletes and parents commit to upholding this agreement and fostering a supportive,faith-centered environment. Any violation of this agreement may result in consequences, including but not limited to suspension from games or dismissal from the team, in line with the responsibility and integrity expected of the Vir Fidelis.

  • Athletes and parents understand that once an athlete is officially a member of a team and added to the roster that quitting the sport in mid-season disqualifies the athlete from participating in any other sport within the same season.
