Transportation
Q: If I drive my son to school and pick him up after school, where do I go?
A: Cars are not allowed to enter campus before school to drop off or at dismissal to pick up. School security will not allow cars into the parking lot (except for faculty/staff and seniors who have a parking permit). Please be aware that traffic on Amboy Road between Tysens Lane and Guyon Ave. during those times is very heavy. A better option may be to drop off and pick up on a side block near the school. Please do not double park on the street. If a student has a special circumstance (injury, crutches, etc.) and needs to be dropped off on-campus, parents should call the main office and speak with the Deans Office to make arrangements. A doctor's note may be required.

Q: What is Period "0"?
A: Some senior elective classes meet before the start of homeroom, known as "Period 0."

Q: What if my son needs to arrive at school late and/or leave early?
A: Early dismissal requests will only be honored for serious circumstances. If a student feels ill during the day, he must report to the school nurse who will then contact the student's parents if he will be dismissed from school. Students are not permitted to call their parents before seeing the nurse. Seniors who drive to school are not permitted to sign themselves out. A parent/guardian will need to do so. Click here for more details about early dismissals. If a student will be arriving to school late, parents should call the attendance office before 9:00 am on that morning.
Academics
Q: What is study hall?
A: Study hall is mandatory for any students who have an after-school activity that does not start immediately after dismissal and would like to stay on campus until their activity begins. It is usually held in a classroom or the cafeteria and is supervised by faculty/staff. For example, a student who has practice at Farrell at 4:00 pm but does not want to go home and come back. If he elects to stay on campus until practice, he must do so in study hall. No tutoring or instruction is provided in study hall. It is just a supervised location on campus for students to study and do homework. Students are not permitted to wait anywhere else on campus before their activity begins.
Q: What is CLAW?
A: Center for Learning and Academic Wellness (CLAW) - is free peer tutoring offered in the morning before homeroom (during period 0) and/or after school. It is usually held in the Learning Commons. The schedule for CLAW will be announced in school. Students who are members of our National Honor Society provide tutoring and are supervised by faculty members. Appointments are not needed and students can stop in as they feel necessary. They should first check with the CLAW students/faculty to make sure the subject they are looking for help with will be available on the day/time they want.

A: Parents can check their sons' grades by logging into PowerSchool. New Farrell parents will receive their login credentials during the first week of school.
